After an initial evaluation, the appropriate program and approach is determined in order to meet each student's individual needs.
The following are some of the highly effective multi-sensory programs we offer:
Visualizing and Verbalizing ®
The Visualizing and Verbalizing® program systematically teaches individuals to first create mental pictures from language, then to recall, organize and verbalize the information visualized. The goal is to provide students with the tools to develop vocabulary, comprehend written and oral language, express themselves concisely, and to think critically.
Seeing Stars®
The Seeing Stars® program is designed to stimulate symbol imagery, or the ability to visualize letters both in isolation and in words. This skill is essential for learning to recognize sight words that are difficult to sound out. Strong imagery also helps students improve their rate and fluency when reading in context. The Seeing Stars® program teaches students to create a mental picture for letters and identify the corresponding sounds, building from single to multi-syllable words.
Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing®
The LiPS® program, a multi-sensory approach to language, provides students with new tools for perceiving the identity, number, and order of sounds within words. The program teaches students to rely on the way sounds feel inside their mouths in order to overcome deficiencies in phonemic awareness.
Math
Through a multi-sensory approach, students learn their math facts, rules, and formulas, and are able to use this knowledge in real life applications. Most students who are struggling in the area of math are most often missing basic foundational math knowledge. In order to determine the needs of each student, an initial evaluation is administered and an individual program is designed accordingly.
